An abacus, also called a counting frame, is a calculating tool used primarily by Asians for performing arithmetic processes. Today, abaci are often constructed as a wooden frame with beads sliding on wires, but originally they were beads or stones moved in grooves in sand or on tablets of wood, stone, or metal.

The idea for the computer began with people who wante4d an easier way to calculate numbers, In between 1000 BC and 500 BC, the abacus was invented in Babylonia, and this made calculating simpler. It is actually a calculator made of strings and beads.

The first automatic calculator was invented in 1642 by Blaise Pascal. However, none of these devices could be compared to a computer because they could not be programmed. A computer must not only calculate automatically, but it should also be possible to programme it. The first step in this direction was taken in 1801 when Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a punch card that could be used for weaving. The card made sure that the threads went through in the right order. This is important, because computers use codes in order to work.

By 1833, Charles Babbage invented the major parts of the mechanical computer. Did you know that the word 'Computer' originally referred to a person who could do calculations very fast without the help of any mechanical devise
